Oliver Brown - a shop for every man (and woman)

It's rarely that I walk into a shop and want to buy most of what I see. I had this experience at Oliver Brown, 'a gentlemen’s and ladies outfitter in the heart of Chelsea, just off Sloane Square in Central London'.

First impressions, from both the shop and the very comprehensive website, are of tweeds and hunting, shooting and fishing, but Oliver Brown is a lot more than that. With a tailor on-site, you can also order a city suit, bespoke, tailored or off-the-peg, and buy all that you need for life and work in the city.

All are catered for; the dandy might want a smoking jacket (see my post on smoking jackets), the socialite might want a vintage silk top hat and tails for Ascot; tweed suits, hats, hunting clothing, walking sticks, velvet slippers are on display.

The offering isn't as mainstream and traditional as it may sound. All ages are attracted to Oliver Brown on the strength of the rise in popularity of tweeds and country clothing. A glimpse at menswear fashions at London Collectons: Men in January proves this - timeless style has arrived and is found at Oliver Brown.
