Turnbull & Asser's James Bond Collection

While Ian Fleming rarely mentioned the brands worn by his fictional stylish hero, we do know that James Bond wore Sea Island cotton shirts from London's Jermyn Street. Bond could well have gone to Turnbull & Asser to be measured for his bespoke shirts.

That famous Royal shirtmakers have also had a long connection with the 007 film franchise. In 1962 the late Sean Connery was sent there for his shirts for Dr No. The result was the beautifully cut pale blue shirt with cocktail cuff that Connery wears in his usual relaxed yet dapper fashion (image below). That shirt is now available, along with other shirts and ties associated with films from the Bond franchise, from Turnbull & Asser (link below).

Wearing the Dr No shirt

As you'd expect from Turnbull & Asser, the shirt is made in England in a soft poplin weave. The fit is regular - nothing skin tight here - and the spread collar and two button turnback cuffs are exactly as Connery wore them in Dr No. A pleasure to wear, easy to iron and comfortable, this is the ideal shirt for the office, home or for espionage.
