On my trip to Edinburgh a few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting Edinburgh tailor, Andrew Brookes (contact details below).

A vital element in the choice of a tailor is how well they relate to you, your tastes and needs and how you get on with them. After spending some time at Andrew's George Street studio it was clear to me that he's one of those tailors who completely understands what his clients want, guiding them where required and interpreting their requirements precisely and creatively. On top of this he has that facility for getting on with everyone, helped by a dram of excellent single malt of course.
Andrew's Style Wall is an excellent idea and enables clients to select and talk through styles, colours, patterns and cuts they like. He likes to offer the whole style experience, helping men and women to identify their preferences and build their wardrobes to perfectly suit their lifestyles. He talks of men developing a 'personal brand' - a phrase I understand. My blog has been about a search for style; what Andrew Brookes is offering is a service that sets clients well on their way on their own personal searches for style.

Andrew's whole life has been steeped in menswear. His father started a tailoring business in Falkirk 60 years ago and he's worked with men's clothing all his career. His experience and approach clearly have paid off as he's planning on expanding to Glasgow.
In the image below I'm wearing a gorgeous Loro Piana camelhair and wool unstructured blazer. Andrew's designs are as contemporary as you'd like them and he claims to be the only tailor in Scotland offering a totally natural, unstructured shoulder in true Italian style. Whether you go to him for that or full Scottish evening dress with kilt, sporran and dirk you will come away with something that suits and fits to perfection.

This feature is unsponsored. I was a guest of various brands in Edinburgh earlier this autumn.
