An Antarctic Holiday: Grey Fox Offline for a Few Weeks

Monday, 19 November 2018

I will soon be on my way on the holiday of a lifetime with Mrs Grey Fox. As you may have read here on the blog, we are going on a 40th wedding anniversary trip to Argentina, The Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica. I'll be off air on Instagram and other social media until Christmas, as internet access will be sparse. Scheduled posts will still appear on the blog, so please check in every few days, but I'll not be able to answer comments or queries while I'm away. Harry #BlogDog will stay at home to be spoiled rotten in our absence.

While I'm away the blog will have its seventh birthday (11th December). I'd like to thank you all for reading the blog and following on social media. The warmest season's greetings to you all.

Top left clockwise: Shackleton Endurance parka, Nigel Cabourn cable roll neck, Edmund Hillary Ventile Summit anorak, Shackleton submariner's jumper (all links below)

I want to thank the brands, listed below, who've helped by supplying or lending clothes and equipment for our adventure. On my return, I hope to feature them in the context of some of the most wonderful landscapes in the world.

Shackleton: reliving the Shackleton spirit with high quality expedition-grade outdoor wear - Endurance expedition grade parka and knitwear.

Edmund Hillary: a New Zealand/British brand I first came across some time ago which was co-founded by the Hillary family. It's reappeared and launched in the UK with well-made clothing that toes the line between adventure and high street wear - Ventile Summit anorak, hat and gilet.

Billingham Bags: making high quality camera and other bags in England - 25 rucksack for cameras.

Nigel Cabourn: needs no introduction here, making high quality heritage-inspired clothing to near-original specifications - cable roll neck and Antarctic parka (the parka, designed by Nigel Cabourn to celebrate the 1955 crossing by Hillary and Fuchs of Antarctica, will not be taken but used and reviewed in New Year).

Hotter Shoes: making shoes in Lancashire - Gore-Tex lined walking shoes.

Thanks also to the following who've loaned products for use on our adventure:

Lumix Cameras: Lumix LX-100 compact zoom camera.

Bremont Watches: Bremont Endurance limited edition watch (developed for Antarctic use).
