Ties for the summer: cool neckwear

There's no reason to abandon ties in the summer. Still needed for formal or workwear, it's possible to find neckwear that uses lighter fabrics and brighter colours to reflect the informality and joy of the holiday season. Here I find some summery choices.

Cool, stylish and summery with a colonial, military feel. Private White VC Eco tie - stone

As with summer clothes, look for lightweight materials: cotton, linen, silk, seersucker and knitted wool or silk to give a less-formal feel. Brighter colours and floral patterns give a seasonal feel and avoid heavier winter looks. While it's a matter of personal choice, I feel that skinny ties are rather yesterday and prefer the easier proportions of a medium width tie.

These ties look good with a summer blazer, cotton suit or just a linen shirt. The English silk and linen summer tie immediately below (made in London by Seaward & Stearn) is the type of thing to look out for:

Seaward & Stearn

I was not compensated for this post and the choices are entirely mine. If you would like to contribute to help with the costs of this blog, I'd be very grateful. Such contributions may be made here at the bottom of the page (or contact me to buy advertising space and/or send me a summer tie to wear).
