Man 1924 - tweedy, layered and crumpled

I was recently introduced to this Spanish brand by a comment on one of my posts. I am very grateful to this anonymous person, because Man 1924 is something special.

I find that I've posted images here on the blog of the company's founder, Carlos Castillo (seen below and often photographed by The Sartorialist), and of its clothes without realising the provenance. I haven't yet been able to find a stockist here in the UK and Man 1924 hasn't yet responded to my e-mails asking for more information.

The style is a tweedy, classic take on traditional British country style (note the Land Rover), with a twist of US preppy. This is given a subtle Spanish edge, enhanced by the rumpled, informal way in which Carlos and his models wear the clothes. I particularly like this approach - you wear the clothes, rather than let them wear you. If you feel relaxed, not worrying about creases and folds, you add to the character of what you wear. Tweed, linen and cotton always look particularly good when worn in this crumpled, layered and relaxed way.

Until there is an outlet here, I suggest that shrewd purchases from that other Spanish retailer, Massimo Dutti or Ralph Lauren, John Lewis and Co, Peregrine, Hackett, Fourth and Main, or Private White VC would achieve similar results for tweedy jackets and knits.

Meanwhile, see the Man 1924 website here and enjoy the imagery, you'll find some inspiration, at least. If there were ever to be a Grey Fox clothing brand, it would be similar.
