Geoff Stocker: Silk Dressing Gowns Designed and Made in the U.K.

Friday, 30 September 2022

Geoff Stocker's sumptuous new 2022 Silk Dressing Gown Collection has arrived (pictured below) and introduces further variety to the classic shawl collared shapes that he first introduced some five years ago.

Geoff Stocker 2022 Silk Dressing Gown Collection

When Geoff Stocker introduced his range of British-made silk dressing gowns in 2017 he kindly invited me to model them (see the links below) and I was highly impressed by the quality, colour and luxury of the silk gowns. The collection was inspired by Geoff's visit to Japan in 2016, after which he designed the collection which was printed and made in the U.K.

The collection was designed, printed and fabricated in the U.K.

Geoff told me something about the background to the new collection,

"The men’s silk dressing gowns in the new 2022 collection actually derive from some of my pocket squares. I chose from among the bestselling designs and then converted 4 of these from their small square format into an endless repeating pattern in order to create the 3 metre lengths of silk needed to create each gown.

One of my major influences is the sartorial culture and history of the old kingdoms of South Asia. So the colours and pattern shapes I chose are deliberately exotic and ornamental. Made clear by some of the titles: Durbar, Kubla Khan and Mughal.

The gowns are unlined and have a traditional shawl collar with hip pockets, rifle cuffs and a sash belt. They are made from a lightweight 15oz Twill Silk. The patterned silk has been digitally printed and the plain silk used for the trim elements has been dyed.
As ever all aspects of production are entirely UK made. The silk is from R A Smart and the gown construction is by Fabrika London".

For more information and to buy go to Geoff Stocker.
