John Lewis's aim to strengthen its offering of casual clothing in response to changes in the way we dress has seen it introduce British brand Community Clothing Co. to its menswear collection this week.
Led by Patrick Grant and with a factory in Blackburn, Lancashire, Community Clothing Co. is a social enterprise which aims to restore and strengthen British manufacturing in deprived regions that used to be the hub of the UK textiles industry. They offer affordable and contemporary menswear that's sustainably made to last.
While I haven't seen the collection yet, regular followers will know that I've bought several CCCo pieces over the years and have always been impressed by the quality and the prices. Any brand that offers such quality British-made products so affordably deserves our support, particularly one that's bringing employment to areas that so need jobs.
It's good to see that John Lewis supporting UK independent brands. In the case of CCCo, they are offering a 29 piece collection through their chain of stores and online. Using yarn spun in Manchester and cut and sewn in Blackburn, this is truly British-made.
