I love grain leather. The texture it gives to a good pair of shoes adds an interest and colour variation that becomes enhanced as the shoes are used and polished over the years.
Loake Badminton brogues are part of their British-made 1880 range and come in mid and dark brown. With a rubber Dainite sole and heavy construction they are a classic English country brogue and this impression is enhanced by the grain leather finish.

Wearing my grain leather Loake Badminton brogues |
Leather that hasn't been finished to give a smooth finish so that the natural markings of the leather are preserved is full-grain leather. Where the leather is smoothed and then a grain finish applied by being imprinted onto the leather in order to give a more uniform appearance, this is known as top-grain leather.
Loake Badminton £250. See the Loake website here.

I was sent a pair of brogues for the purposes of this feature. No money changed hands. All views are mine.
