Seven years of blogging have made me realise the power of a good story behind quality products. I love watches, clothes, shoes, cars that have a real narrative behind them. Maybe a watch that was worn on the Moon, or a jacket made of a cloth worn by early climbers; or how about a rugged jumper based on those worn by fishermen, explorers, climbers and other gnarled outdoorsmen and women?

I'm wearing Beacon & Armour Submariner's (L) and Guernsey (R) jumpers |
Knitwear has a real heritage behind it, often worn by sailors and fisherman and made to traditional patterns. A jumper is both a practical and decorative garment. Beacon & Armour, who make beautifully-made traditional knitwear in the UK, have captured the story-telling aspect of their products in a short film, Endeavour, to mark their first knitwear collection. It tells the story of a remarkable fisherman. Enjoy the film:
Beacon & Armour's 001 UK-made Collection of Guernsey and submariner's jumpers is available through their website. I wear some in the image above; they are beautifully made, with plenty of length in the sleeves and down the back. At £149 each, they represent good value for such quality.

[Note: This is an unpaid collaboration with Beacon & Armour. I received two jumpers to try, review and use for the images for this promotion, but was otherwise uncompensated. All views expressed are mine alone.]
