The American company, G.H. Bass & Co. is well known for its Bass Weejun loafers, bringing preppy style to many a man's wardrobe. But they don't just make loafers and when they invited me to show the versatility of the brogue, or wing-tip as it's called across the Atlantic, I used a pair of their Monogram wine leather shoes (pictured below).

I wear brogues most of the time. They provide a very versatile style, for country, formal, business or casual. Here I suggest three ways you could style yours. The only element common to each look are the G. H. Bass wine leather Monogram brogues. I'm very grateful to Sarah Gilfillan of SartoriaLab, whose personal styling skills have helped me so much on my search for style, for her advice with this styling exercise. In the first look (below) we went for a business look that would suit a man if any age, with a classic navy Prince of Wales check suit, silk tie and silk square and vintage accessories. The burgundy colour of the shoes suits a darker suit, while being less formal than a black pair:

For the second look (below), perhaps for a slightly older man, but suitable for all, (below) we selected a country style with a tweed suit, vintage Fair Isle jumper and wool tie with a bird motif. The blue shirt, with a blue and brown check, dilutes the country look, making this ideal for a smart casual day in town.

For the final look (below), we chose a casual look with denims and a Ventile Harrington jacket, easy to wear and comfortable year round. The soft, thick cotton shirt gives warmth on those chiller days while complementing the comfort of the faded denims and used look of the leather bag. The waterproof Ventile jacket protects from unexpected showers.
