I've long been a fan of Omega watches and once owned an Omega Seamaster 300 diving watch from the seventies, many of the design features of which are echoed in this Spectre limited edition watch, released to mark its use in the newest James Bond film.

Omega Seamaster 300 Spectre Limited Edition, here I wear it with a cashmere jumper worn in the film |
This may be a watch sold on the back of a film and a fictional character, but beyond the hype, as enjoyable as it is, is a serious watch for anyone who likes to wear a high quality, stylish, good-looking timepiece. Solid, easily-legible and water resistant to 300 metres, it follows the long Omega tradition of reliable, workmanlike and attractive watches.

I'm not going to write about its technical specifications; it's enough to acknowledge the skilful design blend of aesthetics, mechanical accuracy, practicality and durability. The watch comes in an impressive box with combination lock (guess the three digit code) and is on a black and grey nylon NATO-type strap loosely based on one worn by Bond in the 1964 film Goldfinger. The twelve hour bezel allows you to keep time in a different timezone.
Handling and wearing the watch I had an impression of real solidity and quality. The Omega Seamaster 300 Spectre Limited Edition is priced at £4785. See the Omega website for more information and for a list of dealers.
