I spoke recently to one of the founder, Ollie Endacott, to find out more:
OE: Gallox Ltd was formed in 2019 by myself (Ollie Endacott) and sister (Lizzie Williamson), both of us hail from the West Country and have spent most of our lives in Devon and Cornwall. Lizzie is a designer by trade and spent time in the city honing her craft of fashion design. We come from farming backgrounds and have a deep love and understanding of the countryside. The company was named after a historic bridge set within Exmoor national park, a place we spent lots of time exploring and getting up to lots of mischief as kids.
GF: How did the brand come about?
OE: Gallox was formed over Sunday dinner and plenty of wine in September 2019. I was discussing with Lizzie that I could not find any ethical and sustainable clothing that was designed to meet the rigours of fishing, foraging and stomping around the South West coast path. So, it was decided between us that they would make our own. The very next day (albeit with a slightly sore head) the wheels were turned in motion and Gallox was born. Lizzie sourced some hard-wearing vintage military apparel, we looked at the no-nonsense designs that we felt we could adapt and add some modern changes. Gallox offers a brand that has functional qualities at its core which offers a fresh look on outdoor fashion.
GF: What products do you specialise in?
OE: Gallox specialises in outdoor men’s sustainable apparel. We source materials which are hard wearing and wherever possible from within the United Kingdom. We offer clothing which are designed to span generations and time so to not go out of fashion or favour. We offer a mixture of practicality and style which would not look out of place out on the moor or sat in the pub slurping some cold ones with friends and family.
GF: Where are your products made? Is British manufacture important to you and if so, why?
OE: All our clothing apart from our T-shirts and caps are manufactured in the United Kingdom and the majority of our apparel are both designed and manufactured in Devon, England. We are proud of the fact we keep things local in the West Country. It was really important to myself and Lizzie that we utilise British manufactures. This was for a couple of reasons, which really boiled down to the fact that we want to keep our Carbon footprint to a minimum and we want to keep the clothing industry alive and thriving in the UK.
GF: You accept your products back for repair - tell us about this and your views in sustainability.
OE: We certainly do accept all our premium apparel back for repair. All premium products are covered in a three years three fixing service from time of purchase. Going one step further we will re-proof any waterproof items alongside repairs and cleaning after three years also. We would rather your apparel stay on your back for longer than end up in landfill prematurely. As mentioned earlier we come from hill farming stock, and we have always been encouraged from children to make do and repair. It served our forefathers well and the same ethos will carry on through our brand.
GF: Please introduce yourself and the brand.

We make sure to vet all our manufactures from both within the UK and abroad to see that workers are treated fairly and paid a good wage for their work.

GF: How do you see Gallox developing in future years?
OE: We are only a young company and want to grow our brand organically stemming out from the West Country. This is where our roots are set, and we want to make sure we stay strong in our convictions as you have hopefully seen in the comments above. We plan to grow the brand steadily and increase our range of apparel. We have ambitions to develop a female range within the next two years and plan to continue to support British manufactures in as many aspects as possible.
