My Hunter's Tweed Kildary Elfin tweed |
The rise in popularity of tweed and the resurgence of the country look will have been obvious to anyone with even a passing interest in men's fashions. Menswear shows at London Collections: Men earlier this year and the Savile Row event at Spencer House were a riot of tweed, brogues, plus fours, thick woolly socks and even a gun dog.
What better tradition to tap into during an era which is seeing the revival of popularity of such products? The rise in its popularity masks the purely practical origins of tweed. As someone who wears the fabric a lot, I know how warm, weatherproof and comfortable it is to wear. Added to this is its durability and, above all for sporting purposes, its natural camouflage properties.
Hunter's Tweed use the cloth for purposes other than clothes - as the images below illustrate. For more information see Hunter's Tweed's website here.
