This is, I hope, the first of a series of streetstyle photographs of well-dressed, stylish, middle-aged and older men (not necessarily fashionable, whatever that means). This gentleman in Chelsea immediately caught the eye, with his double-breasted suit, buttonhole and tightly-furled cane-handled brolly. He had a copy of The Rake under his arm; unfortunately I didn't ask him to have this in shot. I love the mix of blues.
I hope that my courage and photography skills will increase over time, so be patient. Please let me know if you enjoy it. With many thanks to my extremely courteous and patient subject in Chelsea.

Hi there Gery Fox...With each attempt at taking peoples pictures you will improve. Try looking at the shots on Necessary and Proper.com to get an idea/inspiration on how to look at the subject a few different ways. Also look at how Trashness.com looks at men in different kinds of outfits. I think you should look to see if there is a repetitive pattern, of how those sites pose their subjects, and do the same.
Very nice with pictures that shows what you otherwise describes a text. Keep up this The Sartorialist inspired street photographing it's very interesting, especially in you´re interpretation.

The location certainly helps for street style photography. I live in Basingstoke and would be hard pressed to come across anyone as dapper as this. Great stuff, keep'em coming.

A very stylish gent. Traditional with a twist from the lovely colour of the waistcoat.
Thanks again. He was very courteous, David. I think it's easier to approach someone as a slightly older man. He was obviously interested in dressing well so seemed pleased that we'd noticed how smart he looked.

Good to see a more mature man use colour. I was always told that you couldn’t wear a waistcoat with a double breasted suit, but here I think it works well. Really like the tightly furled brolly, I have a similar one from Pickett.

To me this is more like dressing up, not practical or realistic daily wear. Sorry!
I share your hesitation to embark on photography, but at the end of the day, isn't this really about giving voice to and for the middle-aged man (or woman) on the street? We are bombarded with images both manufactured and impromptu of youth as if they're the only ones out and about. go for it I say!
