Wearing the Crown Northampton Upton Wholecut made to order in snuff Kudu suede |
I selected a soft and flexible sand Kudu suede from Charles F. Stead in Leeds with a gum sole. The ordering process is easy and Crown are on hand to give advice if needed. As the shoes are made to order and the factory was operating within lockdown restrictions, there was a wait of a few short weeks before they arrived, beautifully presented.
The quality of the materials and manufacture is immediately obvious and my shoes fit perfectly. The soft suede and gum soles look good, feel robust, support my feet well and stay comfortable. worn with jeans, shorts or chinos or with a casual softly tailored suit, these are a great example of British quality design and manufacturing.

English shoemaking gained its reputation in traditional Goodyear welted shoes and it's good to see Crown Northampton extending this by making the highest quality sneakers, giving a contemporary edge to the Northampton shoe industry.
The Upton Wholecut sneaker which I selected can be found here; three colours of sole are available. To find out more, to browse and buy go to Crown Northampton.
